The new normal? At an eve of Newtown's Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, another school shooting happened, this time within 8 miles radius from Columbine High.
ニュータウンのサンディフック小学校銃乱射事件から明日で1周年。朝から追悼特集が流れる中、コロラド州Arapahoe高校で在校生が拳銃をもって教師を追い回し、途中で生徒2人が撃たれて重軽傷を負う事件が起こった。教師は逃げて無事、犯人はその場で自殺した。
生徒12名・教師1名が殺された1999年の乱射事件のコロンバイン高校からは19km、死者12名・けが人70名を出した2012年オーロラ乱射事件の映画館からは23kmの距離。

UPDATE: Shooter Karl Pierson, 18, was outspoken, intelligent boy who was active in the school's debate club. He went into the school armed with a shotgun, ammunition and three Molotov cocktails, looking for the school's librarian and head of the school's debate team "who had recently kicked Pierson off the team." - Denver Channels
デンバーチャンネルによると、犯人は最上級生カール・ピアーソン（18）。頭が良くてディベート好き、弁論大会でも優勝する実力者だったが、部活顧問の図書書士に退部させられ、顧問を殺すため拳銃とモロトフカクテル3個で武装して校内に入り廊下で発砲、図書館に放火し自殺した。途中で頭を撃たれた女子生徒は意識不明の重体。やりきれない話だ…。
