All of above

If there was a $1 Salary CEO Club, Jim Barkesdale would be a founder. Jobs's salary stayed $1 with no bonus since 1998, a year after he returned to the company. He exchanged options on a split-adjusted 55 million Apple shares for 10 million share of restricted stock, which gives him about a 1.2% stake, worth $656.8 million today.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt joined the club, taking a pay cut of $82,987 last year (it continues in 2006), and its founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page (photo), too, slashed salaries of $45,306 each. But remember, Schmidt made $387 million, Brin got $1.45 billion and Page got $1.5 billion by selling Google shares since the beginning of last year.

CEO John Chambers, who once was the most paid CEO in the valley taking more than $1.3 million in salary and bonus in 2000, agreed to reduce his salary from $350,000 to $1 in April 2001 in the midst of laying off up to 8,500 employees. It continued 'till August in 2004. Chambers also made more than $150 million by exercising stock options.
