Steve is my best friend for 25 years. Very interesting how we met. We were the neighbors. One morning his peacock wandered down to my property and woke me up. Not the way to start the relationship. His girlfriend gave him the peacock and I came over to complain about the peacock, then he says, "You don't like that bird either!"  He said, "I didn't know what to do about it since it's a recent birthday present from my girlfriend. I'm going to tell her that you complained so much about the bird we had to get rid of it."

スティーブとは25年ずっと親友さ。出会ったきっかけがこれまた面白い話でね…スティーブとは家が隣同士だったんだ。で、ある朝、あいつの孔雀が俺の庭に迷い込んできて俺様を起こしたんで文句言いに行ったら、こう言ったんだ。「あんたもあの鳥ダメなのか！」（笑）　「自分もあの鳥は嫌なんだけど誕生日に彼女にプレゼントにもらった鳥でどうしたらいいか困ってた。ああ良かった、これで隣のあんたがうるさいから家に置いとけないってことにできる、彼女にはそう伝えておくよ」ってね。


Edison had this comment; one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration. Steve was the God of perspiration. Steve work incredibly hard. [...] I've never seen anybody like that.
エジソンは言った。「（天才は）1%のひらめきと99%の努力」。スティーブは努力の神様だった。信じられないほど働いた。あんなやつは見たことない。


(In the prototype Apple Store) I asked Steve, “Don’t you read the newspaper? They’re saying bricks and mortar are dead.” Then he said, “We’re not using mortar. We’re using glass and steel.”
