真似るvs.盗む:"Bad artists copy. Good artists steal." - Pablo Picasso, T.S. Eliot (+Banksy)

Banksy gallery exhibit in Bristol, England, 1999 (via Digg)

Picasso said "Bad artists copy. Good artists steal."

When Steve Jobs quoted it during a 1996 PBS documentary Triumph of the Nerds, he quoted  "Good artists copy. Great artists steal."  I wonder who modified it.... Banksy?

In either way, the idea is the same; bad artists do nothing but mimicking works by somebody else, whereas true artists take in whatever surrounding them and turn them into their own art.

T.S. Eliot said exactly same thing; "Good Poets Borrow, Great Poets Steal

あれは確かピカソが「悪い芸術家は模倣し、良い芸術家は盗む」と言ったのが、いつの間にやらGoodとGreatに入れ替わったんじゃなかったっけ? Banksyのしわざか?
