これはその直前に911通報したマークさんと交換手のやり取り。車のマットレスが引っかかってアクセルが戻らなくなる不具合（ペダル本体にも若干問題あり）によるトヨタの大量リコールを加速したのはこのテープの一般公開だった。地方局San Diego 6によると、マークさんは車を点検サービスに出し、慣れない代車のレクサスでこの事故に遭ったという。いつもの車ならここまでパニックせずニュートラルに戻せたかも…と思うと余計にやり切れない。
