Halloween Shooting in SC

A 12-year-old trick-or-treater was shot to death as he knocked on a door in South Carolina. An ex-convict who thought he was being robbed sprayed nearly 30 rounds with an assault rifle, AK-47, from inside his home, AP reported.

This reminds us of the Hattori Shooting in 1992 in which then 16-year-old Japanese exchange student, Yoshihiro Hattori, got killed in a similar situation. That time, the shooter was acquitted under Louisiana's "Kill the burglar" statute, though it's hard to believe one would assume someone ringing the doorbell or knocking on a door to be a burglar.

Unlike Louisiana's case, though, this SC guy is likely to be convicted guilty because an ex-con is not allowed to own a gun anyway...
